Environment and Socio Economics
Objectives and Activities
The Environment and Socio-Economics team aims to deepen the understanding of the underlying social and economic drivers and barriers of large-scale biomass utilisation in Europe and further strengthen the European biomass industry. The team is focusing on improving economic conditions, know-how and capacity and supply chain investments. Using a case-study approach, the team has forged strong relationships with industry and policy makers to ensure that their research will help to increase efficient bioenergy utilisation in Europe.
Latest results:
IIIEE has published a number of case studies, documented key barriers and presented work at major bioenergy conferences resulting from the investigations undertaken in the NoE's Environment and Socio-Economics Research Area. To download a one page summary of publications and activities, click here.
In May 2005 this Research Area held a one day seminar with industrial partners to check their case study assessments against the latest developments in industry.
